The Scale Up New Mexico program, funded in part by the United States Economic Development Administration and housed at New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, will offer its Business Model Sprint online accelerator to tech startups in New Mexico.
The Business Model Sprint is tailored for New Mexico entrepreneurs and startups seeking to refine and validate their business models. The program will run every Thursday from Feb. 15 through March 21. To ensure participation, interested individuals are encouraged to apply for the free accelerator by the Feb. 2 deadline. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Feb. 7.
Business Model Sprint is one of several initiatives under Scale Up NM, a comprehensive suite of programs designed to support the growth of early-stage startups. This initiative enhances the array of resources offered by Arrowhead Center, including business development, assistance with Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer and a range of commercialization support services. The program aims to strategically scale up startups by refining and strengthening their business models for sustainable success in the marketplace.
“The Business Model Sprint is a vital component of Scale Up NM, providing startups with the necessary tools to refine and validate their business models, a critical step towards sustainable growth,” said Dana Catron, deputy director of Arrowhead Center. “By fostering innovation and strategic thinking, we aim to empower startups to navigate the complexities of the business landscape successfully.”
During the six-week sprint, participants will engage in interactive sessions covering various aspects of business model development, including product-market fit, sales strategies, customer discovery, value proposition and monetization strategies. The program incorporates presentations, discussions, breakout room sessions, one-on-one mentorship and networking opportunities, guiding participants through the nuances of business model optimization. It aims to equip founders with the tools and insights necessary for sustainable growth and market success.
“Our Sprint model is designed to facilitate meaningful collaboration between entrepreneurs and stakeholders, enabling seamless integration into the entrepreneurship ecosystem,” Carlos Murguia, program manager for Scale Up NM, said. “This results in valuable connections that can lead to potential investments and partnerships.”
Featured advisers and mentors include accomplished entrepreneurs, economists, experienced operators, and active angel and venture investors.
To qualify for the Business Model Sprint, startups must be based in New Mexico or have plans to relocate to the state. Participants are expected to attend a weekly two-hour virtual session throughout the cohort, actively participating in technology-based innovation.
